Two different kinds of error are possible on this site, and they are handled differently.

Errors in reporting

If an article is wrong, we correct the article and say what changed. Material corrections are noted on the story itself rather than edited away silently.

Errors in the data

A company profile can be wrong in ways an article cannot: two firms merged into one record, one firm split across two, a sanction that has been lifted still showing, or a person wrongly linked to a company. These matter more than a typo — they are claims about real organisations and real individuals.

Tell us through the contact page with a link to the profile and to the primary source that contradicts it, and we will check it against the register. Where our data disagrees with the issuing authority, the authority is right and we fix our side.

We do not remove accurate records on request. A listing that a regulator has published is a matter of public record, and a listing that has been lifted is shown as lifted rather than erased.
