    Le groupe MAPNA est un acteur clé du secteur iranien de l’énergie, du pétrole et du gaz. Il est détenu ou contrôlé par le ministère iranien de l’énergie, inscrit sur la liste de l’Union. En coopération avec des acteurs étatiques et des entités appartenant à l’État, comme le ministère du pétrole et la National Iranian Oil Company, le groupe MAPNA participe à l’exploration de gisements de gaz et de pétrole et contribue par conséquent aux recettes pétrolières de l’Iran. Une part importante de ces recettes est allouée aux forces armées, y compris le Corps des gardiens de la révolution islamique, et à l’Organisation de l’innovation et de la recherche en matière de défense (SPND). Par conséquent, le groupe MAPNA fournit un appui au gouvernement iranien. En outre, le groupe MAPNA fournit un appui aux activités nucléaires de l’Iran posant un risque de prolifération.
