Depuis l'annexion de la Crimée, le musée a activement mis à mal le patrimoine culturel ukrainien en promouvant des récits pro-russes concernant l'importance culturelle des objets et des sites d'excavation qu'il gère. À la suite de l'invasion à grande échelle de l'Ukraine par la Russie, le musée s'est servi de sa plateforme pour promouvoir l'invasion et ses auteurs, y compris en organisant des livraisons de fournitures aux lignes de front. Par conséquent, le State Museum-Preserve “Tauric Chersonese” est responsable d'actions ou de politiques qui compromettent ou menacent l'intégrité territoriale, la souveraineté et l'indépendance de l'Ukraine, ou la stabilité ou la sécurité de l'Ukraine.
